If A Tree Falls In The Woods...

I hope everyone had a very Happy New Year! Ever since I can remember, I've always loved New Years Eve. It is a metaphorical clean slate for the next phase of life. A time in which you get to reflect on experiences, celebrate the blessings and set plans to accomplishing more of what's on your "bucket list". This year I celebrated New Years in Lake Placid with my cousin Stina. I wanted to do something different than hosting or attending a New Years party. And different it was and worth sharing..... Heading deeper into our travels, our journey was halted… a massive structure laid before us! This was not part of the plan? How could we get around this massive structure? We needed to reach our destination! Probably hundreds of years old, this monsterous tree laid fallen and broken, right in our path. Its ice covered bark was massive and ran on for what seemed like miles. << MORE >>

Keeping the Holiday Spirit All Year

"Getting into the Holiday Spirit" means to feel within oneself peace, joy and happiness. As each person allows their inner peace to emerge, others become a bit more at peace, feel more joy or know happiness. Suddenly the "Holiday Spirit" becomes a contagious presence and there is a shared purpose to "spread cheer". At the core, the holiday season is about helping each other find inner peace and greater fulfillment in our lives. But why reserve this only for once a year?<< MORE >>

Happy Thanksgiving From Intrinsic Health Source

Happy Thanksgiving!! Thanksgiving is the time of year in which family and friends gather together to share a big feast. World Reflexology Week 2010

Over the last two years, I have performed hundreds of reflexology sessions to help clients relax, de-stress, and relieve foot pain due to running, walking or simply standing all day. The feedback was positive with comments such as "I feel so relaxed", "I feel like a marshmellow", " I can't believe working the feet relaxes my whole body" and "Once you touched my feet, I went right to sleep". I knew I was providing a great relaxation service to my clients. However, while many clients found it relaxing to experience the gentle touch applied to the feet or hands, what I didn't imagine was how reflexology can truly serve as a powerful tool in both the diagnostic and healing process. My practice has organically evolved to integrate a medical and energy model approach to reflexology. Being a holistic nurse affords me the opportunity to draw on both my nursing knowledge and experience, as well as with my reflexology training and intutitive element to foster a greater therapeutic partnership. << MORE >>

The Ancient Healing Therapy of Reiki

Have you missed me? I cannot believe it's been since February that I published a blog! However, my absence from the blogosphere was amazingly a great lesson in "practicing what you preach". You see, I broke my arm this winter ending up with a cast almost up to my shoulder. Blogging time was limited as you can imagine. But as you read on you will see how my overall time was not limited at all! Over the past 18 months of building my practice, I have welcomed energized testimonials from clients validating the integration of holistic therapies within conventional healthcare practices. However, one of the most powerful testimonials would once again come from my own personal health challenge. I love to start off a New Year with that feeling of a "clean slate" the notion that anything is possible. With that in mind, I was ready to begin 2010 with a bang! But I didn't mean to be so literal about the bang part! << MORE >>

February is Heart Month

Tips for a Heart Healthy Fridge Take stock of what's inside. Once a month, separate the heart-healthy foods from the rest. Get in the habit of looking at the nutrition label on foods you purchase for whole grains, fat, cholesterol and sodium content. Have more whole grain, low-fat, high-fiber and low sugar than other types, and, if not, consider gradually reducing the number. << MORE >>

February 5th is National Wear Red Day

February is Heart Awareness Month. But did you know that every year, heart disease takes more women's lives than men's? Yet most women don't know the risks or how to stay heart healthy. The good news is that heart disease can largely be prevented. National Wear Red Day is a powerful way to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke. The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women is a nationwide movement celebrating the energy, passion and power we have to band together and wipe out heart disease. The message of Go Red for Women is to empower women to love and save their hearts through lifestyle choices and actions. << MORE >>
