On the FOURTH day of wellness my blogger gave to me.... "a tip about de-stressing"

                      Today's Tip (Day 4):
"Make an Appointment to Take Time for Yourself"

During this time of year a hectic holiday schedule can increase stress levels. For many of us, we have a long list of "things to do", yet on this list, we often forget to make time for "ourselves".  We seem to be on-the-go almost constantly, but throw in the holidays and you just entered the frenzy zone!  You have now elevated the multitasking and responsibilities, in short increasing stress. One impactful affect to the body resulting from increased stress level is a decrease immune system.

SO, how can we
avoid getting sick because of being "run down"?
Homemade cookies are a tradition, have to bake!
Holiday dinner menu, where to start?
Your kids school needs help with the school holiday party.
Decorate the house, put up the tree, wrap the gifts and purchase last minute presents!

Ask for help: Take a breathe. Don't be a superhero. You may think you can do it all, but you can't!  Ease the stress of holiday responsibilites and ask for helpGet the kids involved in decorating. Bake with family members and friends. Have others contribute to holiday dinner menus or plan ahead with early preparation. A gift wrapping party with friends and sip of wine would be merryRound up needed help while creating some new holiday memories!

Meditate:  A great way to help relax and decrease stress. Meditating does not require alot of thinking, skill or time. In fact, meditating is very simple to incorporate into our daily lives. Just one minute a day can produce a positive effect.  A little quiet time does go a long way!

Exercise:  Has a direct effect on reducing stress!  Yes it's true!  AND  if you don't think you can fit in exercise, just follow day three's tip on stair climbing OR stay tuned to day nine's tip coming soon!!   When you exercise your body releases endorphines or "happy hormones". These hormones help the body feel good.  The physical act of exercise helps focus the brain on the activity at hand, steering away from stressors on the mind. In fact, the Mayo clinic has referred to exercise as" meditation in movement".

This holiday season allow yourself some time to relax, rest and rejuventate!  Try to schedule time for a massage, a reflexology session, a bath, watch a movie, try some reiki, meditate, journal or just sit quietly and while you drive turn off the radio and your 'hands free" cell phone for a bit

Wellness Tip:

Why not try a reflexology or reiki session with Intrinsic Health Source!   Neverthless, whatever you choose and whichever activity relaxes you the most, make sure you schedule it into your day just like any other appointment or "things to do".
