I just love New Years. There is something magical about the illusion of having a "clean slate", a "fresh start", the feeling that anything can be possible and the commitments we make to ourselves as the new year begins. How many of you set New Years Resolutions? The most common resolutions I hear are "to be healthier", "exercise more", "eat better", "take better care of myself". HMMMMM sounds like a committment to enhance one's state of wellness to me ;-) << MORE >>

On the TWELFTH day of Wellness my blogger gave to me..."a tip on nutrition food labeling"

The nutrition facts panel, otherwise known as the "food label", can be tricky to interpret. This New Years make a conscious effort to read EVERY food label that enters your shopping cart. The first time you do this, you may need to plan to spend an extra 30 minutes or perhaps one hour food shopping. But don't fret! Your food detective skills will enhance quickly, and soon you will begin to gravitate towards purchasing healthier foods and your shopping time will shorten. So why not invest a little time up front for a lifetime of good health? << MORE >>

This is the time of year when people exchange more than just holiday presents! Yes I'm talking about the gift of "cold and flu season". Germs and virus are wrapped up in bows for us to share easily and frequently. BUT an ounce of prevention can go a long way! On the SEVENTH day of wellness my blogger gave to me... "a tip on healthy dining"

On the go? Think twice before heading out for that convienent AND oversized meal. Did you realize that most of our serving sizes are double the portion size you should be consuming? Get this....picking up a deli style turkey sandwich can actually be up to 820 calories! What is a Portion Size? We have all heard the phrase "supersize it". BUT the truth is each one of us are usually "supersizing" our meals. WHAT? YES! Unfortunatley, most portions that are "served" to us are usually a serving for two. Therefore, what we consider "normal" and "one serving" is actually a double serving. YIKES!!!! << MORE >>

We are celebrating the season for giving SO why not make some time to do something for someone else. I know many of us are feeling the squeeze in our wallets these days. During this time of year a hectic holiday schedule can increase stress levels. For many of us, we have a long list of "things to do", yet on this list, we often forget to make time for "ourselves". We seem to be on-the-go almost constantly, but throw in the holidays and you just entered the frenzy zone! You have now elevated the multitasking and responsibilities, in short increasing stress. One impactful affect to the body resulting from increased stress level is a decrease immune system. << MORE >>
