On the THIRD day of wellness my blogger gave to me... "a stair climbing activity"

The holiday season is in full swing. That means late nights, missed workouts, alcohol consumption, holiday sweets, shopping and family responsibilties. To avoid the holiday weight gain, balance calories consumed with the calories you burn. Can't fit in a moment to exercise? On the SECOND day of wellness my blogger gave to me.... "a tip about about healthy eating"

During the holidays we tend to eat more food but do not consume nearly enough nutrient dense foods. Nutrient dense foods provide us substantial amounts of nutrients and relatively low calories. We want you to enjoy the holidays along with all the delicious cusine, yet just as we don't want you to deprive yourself of holiday goodies, try not to deprive your body of vital nutrients required to keep you healthy. Maintaining a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk for many chronic diseases including stroke, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and certain forms of cancer. << MORE >>

On the FIRST day of wellness my blogger gave to me.... "a tip for stretching and breathing"

Did you know we can unintentionally cause undo stress to our bodies? For example, many of us, who work in an office setting sit at our desks, clench our teeth, forget to breath and rarely get up for a break. Support For New Mammography Guidelines Very Hard To Find

Responses to the new mammography guidelines keep on coming. In my previous post titled "New Mammoraphy Guidelines: What are you saying US Preventive Task Force?" I questioned the US Preventive Task Force's rationalization for the new recommendations and challenged the "data" that supported the change. The National Consortium of Breast Centers, Inc, (NCBC) now weighs in on the issue. The NCBC is the largest national organization devoted to the interdisciplinary care of breast disease and committed to empowering breast health professionals the ability to measure and improve quality of care to patients. << MORE >>

New Mammoraphy Guidelines: What are you saying US Preventive Task Force?

The new mammography guidelines have evoked a firestorm of reactions. I have heard what the US Preventive Task Force (USPTF) and supporters offer as a reason for change. But I have not heard anything that makes sense. I was first upset when this medical panel declared breast self exams (BSE) as ineffective, not recommending BSE. However, I continued to declare it's importance by informing women to be aware of breast changes which can occur during the months between mammography screening. Now they are recommending gap years where no early detection modalities will be utilized. I am asking, REALLY? Preventive healthcare is about being more aware of your body not less aware. << MORE >>
